To say that teaching now is a little different is the understatement of the year!

With safety colliding with your job, we have learned from our customers that the juggling job teachers are doing now has become all the more challenging with keeping you safe.  While we aren't the safety experts, we do have a few tips from some of our frequent customers are in your shoes to keep you sane and make your life a bit easier in your ongoing challenges with COVID-19.

  • Keep a few masks handy for the kids.  Yes, we all know that parents are responsible for their children's safety too. But in a given class, there will always be a child who forgot his mask.  The solution here is to have masks handy in the event that happens.
  • Keep two bags with you for mask use cleaning reusable masks.  The issues with disposable mask are that they are not environmentally friendly and you can run out.  Having reusable masks on hand means that you have an unlimited supply of masks that only has to be cleaned at the end of the day.  An easy way of keeping up with cleaning is having one bag for dirty and another for clean- and all you have to do is put the bag in the washer (with the masks) at the end of the day.
  • Durability is important.  Everyone knows that kids are tough- on just about anything!  So more durable, double or triple layered masks with filters are a better bet for making it through the school day- or year.  For more on caring or cleaning, click here!

    Masks of Love WNC

was created in Western North Carolina in March 2020 as a response to our community shortage of PPE in the face of Covid 19. We created an all volunteer effort to get cloth masks into the hands of those that needed them most.  Now, Masks of Love has grown into a business that is providing local jobs while staying committed to our mission of donating masks to our under-served neighbors. We have donated almost 10, 000 masks since we began. Learn more about our community partners here.

Even a wounded world is feeding us. Even a wounded world holds us, giving us moments of wonder and joy. I choose joy over despair. Not because I have my head in the sand, but because joy is what the earth gives me daily and I must return the gift."
