I made my first puppet in 2003 as a way to bring creativity and visual impact to a weekly peace vigil in Los Angeles. I’m still bringing puppets to protests and also creating parades and pageants that celebrate nature. I am a founder of the Street Creature Puppet Collective and help manage the Puppet Clubhouse, a community art space in Asheville, NC. I love making giant puppets, shadow puppets, lantern parades, crankies and more. I also teach puppetry to kids and community groups.
I love the way chance and intuition come out to play in collage. I’ve been playing with bits of colored paper since college. Here are a few from a #100daysproject I did last winter. The rules I set up were that each must have a word, an animal and a piece of art in it. Available for purchase. Contact me for more info.
Create things you wish existed! That’s my motto. I am part of many wonderful community projects and groups where I get to do that, including the Puppet Clubhouse, Asheville Fringe Festival, 12 Baskets Cafe, Society of Saint Andrews Gleaners, the West Asheville Garden Stroll, and the Joyful Revolution.
